Web Hosting FAQ
For Outlook (PC)
The following settings are based on using Outlook 2007.
From the main navigation menu select:
Tools > Account Settings
Under the E-mail tab Select "New"
Check: Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP
Click Next
Ignore the fields in this section - instead check the bottom box "Manually configure server settings or additional server types."
Click Next
Select "Internet E-mail"
Click Next
Enter your name, full email address, Account Type: POP3
Incoming Mail Server: mail.yourdomainname.com
(or .ca, org etc, replacing yourdomainname.com with your actual domain for example mail.peaksmedia.com)
Outgoing Mail Server: mail.yourdomainname.com
(or .ca, org etc, replacing yourdomainname.com with your actual domain for example mail.peaksmedia.com)
Login Information:
User Name: this will be your full email address
Password: Enter your email account password
To check that the settings are correct "Test Account Settings"
Click "More Settings"
General Tab:
Change the email address entered in Mail Account to the actual name of your account - for example Your Name - Your Company
Enter your company name (can be left blank) and your full email address is "Other User Information" section.
Outgoing Server Tab:
Select "My outgoing server (STMP) requires authentication.
Check "Use same settings as my incoming mail server"
Advanced Tab:
Incoming Server (POP3): 110
DO NOT check "This server requires an encrypted connection"
Outgoing server (SMTP): 587
If you are setting up your mail account to receive mail on more than one computer/mobile device:
In the "Delivery" section below select:
Leave a copy of message on the server
Remove from server after xxx days (select the amount of days you would like the mail to remain on the server so you can download it from other locations.
If you are running a POP3 account on Peaks Media Inc. hosted server you can view your email from a browser remotely.
To login to your account enter the following address into your browser window address bar:
webmail.yourdomainname.com (or .org/.info/.ca whatever your domain name extension is. Do not put www or http in front of the address)
Enter your username (your email address)
Enter your password
To change your email password you will need to know your current password. If you do not know your current password you can reset in your web hosting control panel. Don't know your webhosting username and password? Please contact support@peaksmedia.com
If you know your email password you will need to visit your webmail account in your browser:
webmail.yourdomainname.com (or .org/.info/.ca whatever your domain name extension is. Do not put www or http in front of the address)
Enter your username (your email address) & password
Once in the e-mail account, on the left hand navigation bar click on "My Account". It will give you a drop down option. Click the "Password" link.
Enter your Old Password
Enter your New Password 2x, then click "Change Password"
To turn on your autoresponder for your email account you will need to be an Account Administrator or have a User Account set up in your Web Hosting Control Panel.
If you've been granted User Privileges by your Administrator the following instructions will guide you through activating your autoresponder.

Enter your Username: (will be your email address for Users, Administrators will have been supplied this information when hosting package was set-up).
Enter your Password: (will be your email address for Users, Administrators will have been supplied this information when hosting package was set-up).
Once you have gained access to the Control Panel:
Select the "Mail Tab"
(Users only) Change "Mail Account Settings"
(Administrators only) Click the e-mail address you'd like to add an autoresponder to
Select the "Auto-Reply" Tab
Check the box next to: "Switch on auto-reply"
Enter details in the: "Auto-reply message subject" section
Enter details in the: "Auto-reply message text" section
Click the OK button to complete the request.
Be sure to Logout before closing the browser window. The green logout button can be found at the top right corner of the screen.
Please note:
Administrators have full access to the Hosting Control Panel allowing them to set up User Accounts/Change Autoresponders for individual e-mail accounts.
